My brain during the day: Potato, potato, ching chong tomato
My brain at night: I wonder why the Earth was placed exactly here and allowed us to provide a perfect climate to sustain human life.

My heart was hammering in my chest, blood thrumming in my ears as I eagerly crouched in the shadows watching my next victim as he strolled into Riften on his way to the inn. The coin purse on his waist was enough to fill my belly with much needed food, some mead, and even a good nights rest in a bed. With careful footsteps I follow him along the side of buildings and wait for my perfect moment to to strike when the guards are just turning around the corner and out of sight.

Making my move, with a swift and silent step - heart hammering so loudly with adrenaline - I lunge out of the shadows and reach for the sack of gold. I manage to grasp the coin purse and with quick tug it falls free from his belt, and to make a hasty escape I turn on a dime and attempt to lunge for the shadows, but luck is not on my side. My left hand his confiscated by this stranger and he yanks me back, and much to my horror - the coin purse that was loosely in my grip goes flying from my hands and I watch with dread as it falls over the edge and after a second of silence I can here the soft ‘plink’ of the gold now sinking into the Riften River.

My left arm is yanked again and I fall backwards onto my butt and no sooner is cold steel pressed up against my throat.

“The fallen leaves gave you away.” His voice is hoarse with a tint of annoyance and I can almost detect a hint of amusement at my failed attempt to steal his coin purse. Though I fail to see what is so funny because I have just sunken his coins into the Riften River which has surely swept it away. I wasn’t about to complain though, around here stealing can mean death on sight if the guards are in a bad mood, and no one questions it, not even the Jarl.

”It seems you owe me quite a bit of gold now, though.” He muses, releasing my left arm from it’s twisted position behind my back, but the blade is never removed from my throat as he walks slowly around to face me. His face is mostly concealed by the helmet he wears and the shadows of nighttime do nothing to help.

”If I had money, I wouldn’t need to resort to stealing to survive.” I bite out, attempting to keep a facade of indifference before this man who holds my life in his very hands. Though he does nothing but chuckle, “Then we have quite a predicament it seems.” I frown and purse my lips and attempt to move back and away from the blade pressing against my throat, but with every scoot back I take, he takes another forward.

The blade is sharper then most warrior’s blades here, I silently note as I watch the moon glint off the edges. Most Riften warriors have drunken themselves into a stupor and their blades are handled carelessly and receive no touch-ups so simply become a ragged dull mess. My eyes wander from the blade to my executioner, he has not spoken for a few moments and I wonder if he is pending how to kill me.

”Teach me how to sneak like you do.” His demand surprises me, and I nearly let my mouth fall agape in surprise. “Teach YOU!?” I sneer at him and begin to scoff at the idea but he interrupts, “Would you prefer jail or execution?” My mouth abruptly closes at the mention of my options and I look away. There are guards in the distance watching this little charade, it must be the most entertainment they’ve had in sometime and I feel my blood boil. My death is their amusement? “It took me a lifetime to gain this kind of stealth and skill, I cannot teach you in mere hours!” I protest, looking back up at my executioner who seems to let the protest roll off his shoulders, his optimism is annoying. “Then it seems we will be spending a lot of time together until I do learn, now doesn’t it?” He sheathes his sword and turns his back to return to his destination, expecting me to follow as I slowly stand to my feet.

”Run and I will not only chase you, but shout for the guards as well. Either travel with me and teach me how to sneak or face execution or jail, the choice is yours.”

He continues to the inn, radiating arrogance as I seethe behind him. The guards are still watching this and my chances for escape are next to none, so I follow him. After all, he would eventually have to sleep.

((Randomly came to me, and I apologize for the lame-ness and any errors in general or tense. =\ ))
